Unparalleled natural beauty

The Dorgali Region

Boasting an incomparable natural, food and wine, artistic and cultural heritage, the ancient medieval village of Dorgali and its seaside village Cala Gonone are located in the centre of the eastern coast of Sardinia.

A country rich in history and tradition, its territory extends from the imposing mountain ranges of the Supramonte to the idyllic beaches of the Gulf of Orosei.

The beaches

Steep cliffs overlooking the sea, turquoise waters and splendid pebble beaches and very white sand: the Gulf of Orosei is the most pristine stretch of sea in the whole of Sardinia.

Here are the most beautiful beaches in the whole of the Mediterranean such as Cala Fuili, the famous Cala Luna, the enchanting Cala Sisine followed by the award-winning Cala Mariolu, a true pearl of the Gulf. The entire coast is a succession of coves, small bays and inlets to be discovered, many of which can only be reached by sea from Cala Gonone such as the beautiful Cala dei Gabbiani and Cala Goloritzè.

Archaeological sites

Dorgali is a magical place full of treasures: as evidenced by the immense richness of its archaeological heritage consisting of caves, dolmens, nurhags and Roman Nuragic settlements.

Authentic open-air museums such as the Nuragic settlements of Tiscali, one of the most important Nuragic villages not only in Sardinia but throughout Italy, Nuraghe Mannu and Serra Orrios, will aid you in discovering an ancient land rich in history.

Dorgali

A village with an ancient history, Dorgali develops at the foot of Monte Bardia marking the northern limit of the mountain range called “Supramonte Dorgalese”.

Surrounded by green vineyards, canyons, rivers and lakes, Dorgali offers its visitors a vast and diversified territory that ranges from the wildest mountain to the crystal clear sea.

The streets of the historic centre will lead you to the discovery of the characteristic artisan shops where the art of working with fabrics, filigree, wood and ceramics is handed down from generation to generation.

Food and wine specialities will accompany you throughout the journey: from the tasting of wines and local products to the dishes of typical cuisine revisited by young chefs from Dorgali.

The numerous churches in the town bear witness to the profound religious faith of its inhabitants. History buffs can visit the archaeological museum and discover the ancient finds dating back to the Nuragic, Punic and Roman eras.
Dorgali and its surrounding area offer a unique and unforgettable journey, among unspoiled nature, food and wine experiences to be enjoyed in every season of the year.
